Investigation Opened in Death of 15 month old Oakland County Baby Girl

LYON TOWNSHIP, MI – An investigation into the death of a 15 month old baby girl was opened on Friday April 27th, 2018 after authorities were called to a residence in the Kensington Mobile Home Park on the report of a baby unconscious and not breathing.Child Death Investigation

At 11:38AM Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Lyon Township Fire Department responded to the 200 block of Traverse Street located in the Kensington Mobile Home Park on the report of a 15 month of baby girl who was unconscious and not breathing. Paramedics from the Lyon Township Fire Department and Huron Valley EMS quickly determined the baby girl was beyond help and was in fact dead.

Paramedics from Huron Valley EMS provided telemetry to a physician at Novi Providence Hospital who pronounced the child deceased.

Upon arrival, the responding Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies were advised by medical personnel that the child was dead inside of the residence. Deputies secured the residence and requested to have a Detective respond to the scene. Detectives requested the OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory to respond to process the scene.

Based on information from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the only two individuals who are being questioned in the investigation, who were inside the mobile home at the time the child was discovered, is the 22-year-old mother of the baby girl and her 22-year-old boyfriend, both of Lyon Township.

An Investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The incident remains under investigation.
