Genesee County Scanners addresses rumor about ongoing Human Trafficking Investigation in Flint

FLINT, MI – Genesee County Scanners today addressed a rumor that has been circulating concerning the ongoing human trafficking investigation that was launched on Saturday May 13th, 2018 in the 600 block of Freeman Avenue in Flint.Genesee County Scanners

Genesee County Scanners posted the following to their Facebook page:

“We here at GCS would like to take the time to clarify a rumor that has been going around about the human trafficking investigation that is still ongoing. It was NEVER shared by us nor Police that any of the missing woman were found or thought to be inside any of the homes in question. What WAS shared is that there were other males and females being held against their will. Names and or weather or not they were reported missing was never shared. Hope this has helped answer some of the questions some have had. Thank You GCS.”

The investigation was said to have began when a woman escaped the house on Freeman and was able to contact police. She reportedly told police that she had been kidnapped, raped and beaten inside of the home. From there the investigation expanded into a full blown human trafficking case. That has been confirmed by Michigan State Police.

The investigation now includes human trafficking, drugs and prostitution. There is one known victim and at least 5 arrests have been made and possibly more to come.

The video below we are sharing from WEYI in Flint. One very disturbing factor about the investigation that can be heard while the reporter, Sarah Jaeger, was doing a live video at the scene – the children that can be heard playing nearby.

The house in located at the corner of Freeman Avenue and Euston Street on the south side of Flint.

Agencies that are now involved in the human trafficking investigation are:

MSP – Michigan State Police

Genesee County Sheriff’s Office

Flint Police Department
