VILLAGE OF TEMPLE, MI – At approximately 3:00 PM, on Wednesday June 6th, 2018, Michigan State Police troopers from the Cadillac Post were sent to Munson Emergency Room in Cadillac, Michigan to investigate an assault that had recently occurred elsewhere.
Further investigation revealed that the assault had actually occurred outside the village of Temple, Redding Township, Clare County, Michigan. The investigation was turned over to the Michigan State Police Mount Pleasant Post at that time.
The victim, a 38-year-old woman from Madison Heights, sustained very serious injuries during a domestic assault with her fiancé, who is a 47-year-old male from Clinton Township. After the assault, the victim fled the scene on foot and was picked up by a passerby who willingly transported the victim to a local EMS station in the Marion area.
From there, the victim was transported by ambulance to Munson Hospital Emergency Room. The suspect used a chainsaw, fire, hands and feet, and other objects, to commit the assault. During this investigation multiple weapons were seized, including firearms, and the suspect was arrested after having contact with local authorities.
The suspect will be arraigned in Clare County on multiple charges, including multiple felonies. The Michigan State Police received assistance from the Clare County Sheriff Department and Clare County Animal Control. No further information will be made available at this time.
