OXFORD TOWNSHIP, MI – A two year old little girl nearly drowns in the family pool on Thursday July 19th, 2018, when her mother went to check on another child.
At approximately 5:45PM Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Oxford Township Fire Department were dispatched to the 3500 block of Park Island Drive for a child who was discovered face down in the backyard pool.
According to the mother, she had stepped outside for a moment to locate one of her other children. When she returned she discovered the back door to the pool area open and could not locate her daughter. While looking she discovered her daughter face down in the pool but was able to immediately retrieve her from the water. While the mother tended to the victim, one of her other children called 911.
The Oxford Fire Department transported the child to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital where she was admitted for observation. The child is listed in stable condition and is expected to recover.
Deputies did notify Children’s Protective Services as a precautionary measure.
