A neighbor flagged down Sheriff’s deputies and advised that he had video of a man attempting to gain entry to his home as well. No entry was gained at the neighbor’s residence. Several of the electronics were tracked to a residence in Eastpointe.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence and entry was made. Several of the stolen electronics were located in the house. That is when Steven Mason, 27-yeras-old, was taken into custody. Mason resides in New Haven and is currently on parole for Home Invasion and Felony Firearm. He is being held at the Macomb County Jail with no bond. The remaining stolen items were recovered upon follow up at Mason’s residence.

Deputies with the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement Unit (M.A.C.E.), the Sheriff’s Enforcement Team (S.E.T.), and the Detective Bureau assisted in this case. “It is unsettling to think that a stranger would enter your home while you sleep to steal from you. Macomb County is a great place to live but no matter where you live, it is still important to secure you home, especially in the warm days of summer. We are thankful that nobody was injured.” –Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham.

This incident was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant for Home Invasion – 1st Degree (20 year felony) was authorized. Mason was arraigned in the 42-B Court of New Baltimore on 07/24/18 and given a $25,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on 08/01/18 at 9:00am for a probable cause conference.
