DETROIT, MI – On Sunday October 22nd, 2018, at approximately 8:30PM, MSP 911 received calls reporting a car crash on I-94 west bound near Cadieux.
The callers indicated it was a multi vehicle double roll over crash, and there was a body on the freeway.
The victim, which was ejected from one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead on the scene. Troopers responded to the scene and shut the freeway down at Moross and a crash investigation was conducted. The freeway was reopened at 1 45 AM.
Investigation revealed that the driver of a Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound I-94 near Morang. They lost control, ran off the roadway to the right onto the grass embankment.
The vehicle re-entered the roadway, struck the median wall and rolled over onto its roof ejecting the driver. A second vehicle, a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling in the left lane and was struck by the Honda as it crossed the freeway.
The driver of the Civic, a 49 year old male from Hamtramck was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the Chevy did not report any injuries and was cooperating on the scene and has been released.
