Monroe County Car Crash on US-23 Kills Two

SUMMERFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI – A single vehicle crash has claimed the life of both the driver and the passenger on southbound US-23.

A single vehicle traffic crash is being reported, which resulted in two fatalities, on southbound US23, South of Ida West Road, in Summerfield Township. The crash occurred on Sunday, November 11th, 2018, at approximately 9:55PM.

The preliminary investigation revealed a maroon 2004 Buick Rainier was traveling southbound on US-23 when the driver lost control, ran off the roadway to the right, and impacted a tree.

Both the driver and passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

Members of the Summerfield Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office – Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7715.
