HART, MI – MSP (Michigan State Police) Hart Post is investigating the death of a 77-year-old Newaygo County woman.
On November 13th, 2018, at approximately 7:00PM, Troopers were dispatched to a residence in Big Prairie Township to an unresponsive female that appeared to have been bitten by a family dog. First responder’s life saving measures were unsuccessful.
The victim is identified as 77-year-old Sharon Lee Daniels. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The inital investigation determined that Sharon Daniels was home alone with three family dogs when one of the dogs inflicted fatal bites to her body. Daniels was disabled and confined to a wheelchair. Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident as an autopsy is pending. No criminal activity is suspected at this time.
Three pit bull dogs were seized by Newaygo County Animal Control officers and are currently being held at the Newaygo County Animal Shelter.
State Troopers on scene were assisted by the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Department, Newaygo County Animal Control, Big Prairie Fire Department and Life EMS.
