Fraser DPS Thanks Community for Help During Apartment Fire

FRASER, MI – Fraser DPS battled an apartment fire on Kendall Avenue this morning. The fire came in as a structure fire with entrapped residents.

Two of the residents had to jump from their balcony to escape the fire; one sustained a broken ankle the other sustained a sprained ankle. All other residents were able to escape without injury.

Fraser DPS would like to acknowledge Antoine and Keunita Whitney, who are residents of the complex. Keunita called 911, while her husband Antoine banged on all resident’s doors to assure everyone got out safe. He further assisted the two residents that had jumped from the balcony and helped break their fall.

“Antoine and Keunita are our heroes and we want to thank them again for what they did and we couldn’t be more proud to serve them all the other residents that helped out this morning.”

A special thanks to the unknown person that brought coffee and bagels to the scene, and the Red Cross that showed up to serve the displaced residents. This was truly a community effort and they couldn’t feel more proud to serve our residents of Fraser.
