DETROIT, MI – A Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Deputy along with a 23-year old male prisoner were in a private ambulance on I-94 headed west bound near the ramp to I-75 when the incident began.
This incident involved a Wayne County Sheriff Office deputy who was in a private ambulance transporting a prisoner. The inmate is being identified as a 23 year old man.
Reportedly the prisoner tried to disarm the deputy. The deputy got control of the weapon where gun discharged. The prisoner was dead at the scene.
The officer involved shooting closed down all lanes of west bound I-94 that included the left and right shoulder of the freeway for nearly 5 hours.
I-94 and the ramp to I-75 reopened at approximately 8:30PM Friday evening. All lanes are now clear for travel
