Woman Shot at Fed Ex Facility in Livonia; Suspect Shot on I-96 by MSP

LIVONIA, MI – On Monday November 26th, 2018, at approximately 3:30AM, Michigan State Police (MSP) Detroit Regional Dispatch Center was contacted by the Livonia Police Department that they were pursuing a suspect that was involved in a domestic relationship shooting at the Fed Ex facility located in Livonia. Livonia Police relayed that the male suspect had the female victim in the car.

The victim was reported to have a gunshot wound to the lower body. It was also determined that the suspect was armed with a shotgun and it was in the vehicle.

MSP joined the pursuit and at westbound I-96 and Levan, a Metro South trooper used the precision immobilization technique (PIT) to end the pursuit. During the attempt to arrest the suspect for the life-threatening felony, the trooper fired his weapon. No members of the public or law enforcement were injured in this incident.

The suspect is in custody and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The female victim was also transported to a local hospital. Both the suspect and the victim are currently listed in critical condition. I-96 westbound is currently closed at Farmington Road for the investigation. As with any complex investigation, all information is preliminary as the investigation continues.

This is a joint investigation with the MSP and the Livonia Police Department. Anyone who may have witnessed the initial assault, police pursuit or the arrest is being asked to contact the Michigan State Police or Livonia Police Department.
