WARREN, MI – On Sunday January 20th, 2019, at approximately 4:25AM, a pedestrian was changing a tire on Eastbound I-696 and Dequindre when he was struck by another vehicle.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition requiring surgery. The at fault driver had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and was arrested.
He was transported to the Oakland County Jail where he submitted to a breath test and registered over three times the legal limit. He also has two prior impaired driving convictions.
MSP Metro Detroit stated that “Once again another person is a victim of an impaired driver. All the suspect had to do was get a ride and this could have been avoided. This one hits close to home for us as the victim in this crash is the brother of one of our troopers assigned to one of our northern posts.”
