Train vs Propane Truck in Mt. Clemens

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – On Thursday, February 14th, 2019, at approximately at 10:41am, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a train had struck a propane truck near Cass Ave. and N. Rose St.

Macomb County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Mt. Clemens and Harrison Fire Departments arrived on scene. The crash was located at Hubbard and Eldridge. It was determined that there were no injuries and no explosions. The area was not evacuated.

The propane truck was parked to close to the railroad tracks as it was stopped to fill a privately owned propane tank. The CN train was traveling southbound and is approximately 10,000 feet in length.

Several railroad crossings will be shut down and drivers should avoid the following crossings in Mt. Clemens; Church St, Cass Ave, Hubbard St, and Elizabeth Rd. It is unknown how long the crossing will be shut down at this time.

An update will be sent out once the roads are open. This incident is still under investigation
