DEARBORN, MI — On Friday, March 1st, 2019, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Dearborn Police Department responded to the area of Michigan Avenue and Southfield Freeway on report of a shooting.
Upon officer’s arrival, they discovered a 28 year-old woman, of Livonia, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers and Dearborn Fire Department personnel immediately rendered first aid to the victim. The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to identify, gather evidence and canvas the area for potential witnesses. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown. A person of interest is currently in custody on unrelated charges.

The victim has been identified, but her name is being withheld pending family notification.
Police Chief Ronald Haddad stated, “This loss of life is tragic and on behalf of the Dearborn Police Department, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.”
