Two Romulus Children Die in Ingham County Car Crash

WHEATFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI  – Two Children from Romulus were killed in a single vehicle car crash in Ingham County on Friday March 8th, 2019, at approximately 9:00 p.m.romulus children

Ingham County Sheriff’s deputies responded to I-96 eastbound just east of Zimmer Road in Wheatfield Townshio for a single vehicle crash.

The 29 year old male driver from Romulus, MI was traveling east on I-96 with his 9-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter from Grand Rapids when the crash occurred.

The children are identified as De’Andre Kash Moore, 9 years old and De’Asia Amoore Church, 8 years old.

Witnesses said the driver was driving aggressively and attempting to pass vehicles on the shoulder of the highway, when he lost control leaving the roadway backwards, striking a tree with the rear of the vehicle. Both children were in the back seat and died at the scene. The driver was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate and will determine if alcohol was a factor. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has not spoken to investigators is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 517-676-8251.
