Ferndale Fire Department also responded to the scene.

One man was transported to Providence Southfield with a serious open head injury. Another uninjured male was on scene and stated he heard the explosion and saw his friend on the floor with an injury to the head.

This was an apparent Hash Oil operation and a search warrant was obtained for the building. The MSP Bomb Squad came out and swept the building. Additionally the Oakland County HAZMAT came out and ensured the chemicals and instruments in the building were safe.

A pressurized canister was located in the building that had damage consistent with the injuries sustained by the victim. It is believed the pressure build up inside the container and forced the lid off the canister at a high rate of speed striking the victim in the head.

The victim is currently admitted to the ICU at Providence and is listed in critical but stable condition.
Due to the recent change in the law with marihuana possession and all the evidence observed/collected on scene this is considered a workplace accident/injury at this time,
