DETROIT, MI – The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection to an armed robbery that occurred on the city’s westside.
On Thursday, January 31, 2019, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the 25 year old male victim pulled into the gas station parking lot located in the 18000 block of West Chicago to make a phone call. As he was looking down at his phone, suspect # 1 opened the driver’s side door of the victim’s black 2005 Buick LaCrosse and began punching the victim and demanded money. Suspect # 2 entered he vehicle thru the driver’s side rear door and assaulted the victim with a weapon. The suspects then took the victim’s cell phone and fled on foot, southbound on the Southfield Freeway Service Drive. The victim was treated or non-life threatening injuries.
Suspect # 1 is described as a black male, wearing a red jacket with a gray hooded sweater underneath. Surveillance pictures of suspect # 1 where taken from a local cellphone store.
Suspect # 2 is described as a black male. (No further description given).
