Man Sentenced in Death of Girlfriend at MGM Grand Hotel

DETROIT, MI – Daniel Scott MichalakDaniel S. Michalak, the man charged in connection with the May 29th, 2018, death of his girlfriend Tia Marie Velluci of Davison, while they were staying at the MGM Grand Hotel in Detroit, has been sentenced.

On June 1, 2018, Daniel Michalak, 33-years-old, of St. Clair Shores, was charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend Tia Vellucci, 27-years-old, of Davison, Michigan. On May 29, 2018 at approximately 12:49 p.m. at the MGM Grand Casino, hotel security along with Detroit police officers received information that led them to check hotel room 408.

Upon entry they found the lifeless body of Ms. Vellucci lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds and a bite wound to her nose. Recent reports are Daniel Michalak bit the victims nose off. It was alleged that Michalak was responsible for the death of the his girlfriend.

Today Daniel Michalak was sentenced before Judge Regina Thomas to: Assault with Intent to Murder (12 to 20 years), Assault with Intent to Maim ( 5 to 10 years to be served concurrently) and the Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
