Investigation Opened into Possible Child Abuse in Oakland County

ORTONVILLE, MI – On April 22, 2019, at approximately 5:45AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies and the Brandon Township Fire Department responded to the 70 block of Village Street on the report of an injured child.investigation

The 2-month-old infant boy became unconscious and was having difficulty breathing. Upon their arrival, Deputies spoke with the infant’s 23-year-old father. The father indicated that while carrying the child from his bassinet to a nearby changing area, he slipped on clothes piled up on the floor and dropped the infant. This caused the infant to strike his head on a clothes basket. The father then lost his balance and reports falling on top of the child. Paramedics stabilized the child and transport him to an area hospital for further evaluation.

An  Oakland County Sheriff’s  Detective responded to the scene to begin with his investigation. The child has two blackened eyes and showing signs of facial swelling. Children’s Protective Services was been notified.

Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
