MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday April 24th, 2019, at approximately 4:00pm, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of 26 Mile Rd. and Omo Rd. for a tractor trailer truck that had struck a residence.
The tractor trailer truck was headed westbound on 26 Mile Rd when witnesses stated the truck blew a tire. The tractor trailer lost control and entered into the eastbound lane of 26 Mile Rd striking a silver F-250 pick-up truck. The tractor
trailer continued on traveling through a residence and coming to a rest in the Meade Cemetery.
Deputies were able to make contact with the homeowner who was not at the home at the time of the crash. The homeowner stated that the home was unoccupied. The home is severely damaged. The home appears to be a total loss
Both the driver of the tractor trailer and the lone occupant/driver of the F-250 have no major injuries. A van traveling behind the F-250 did have to brake to avoid the crash and in turn hit a mailbox. Along with major structure damage to the residence, several headstones in the Meade Cemetery were also damaged.
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time. All drivers were wearing seat belts.
