Romulus Father Charged with Second-degree Murder in Ingham County Double Fatal Crash

MASON, MI – Damerious Robert Church, 29-years-old man, from Romulus, was charged today in connection with the double fatal crash on I-96 in Wheatfield Township on March 8th. Damerious Church

Damerious Church was allegedly driving “aggressively and attempting to pass vehicles on the shoulder of the highway” on Interstate 96 near Williamston with his 9-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter in the back seat on March 8

Church lost control of his vehicle where his vehicle left the roadway  just east of Zimmer Road. His vehicle slammed into a tree.

Both children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Damerious Church was arraigned in front of Magistrate Blumer of the 55th District Court on 2-counts of 2nd Degree Homicide, 2-counts of OWI Causing Death and 2-counts of DWLS causing death. His bond was set at $25,000.00 and his next court date will be June 13th at 0830 a.m. in front of Judge Boyd of the 55th District Court, Mason MI.
