Pontiac Man Faces Further Charges after Fleeing Rochester Hills Courthouse [Video]

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – A 33-year-old man from Pontiac is now facing further charges after he fled the court house in Rochester Hills where he had just been sentenced to serve 90 days in jail.

On Tuesday June 4th, 2019, at 9:31AM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies at the 52nd 3rd District Court located in the City of Rochester Hills responded to the courtroom of the Hon. Judge Nancy Carniak to take a subject into custody. Judge Carniak had just sentenced him to serve 90 days in the Oakland County Jail for disorderly conduct and retail fraud. Deputies had not called into the court room prior to that time.

A Deputy arrived in the court room. When the subject saw the Deputy, he fled from the court house on foot. Multiple Deputies pursued the subject and apprehended him inside a wooded area in front of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office – Rochester Hills Substation, which is attached to the courthouse.

The subject was transported to the Oakland County Jail where he being charged with Escape from Lawful Custody and Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
