25 yr old Man Shot in Jackson County

WATERLOO TOWNSHIP, MI – Troopers from the Michigan State Police Jackson Post were dispatched to the 5000 block of Welch Lake Road for a report of a shooting incident.

Upon arrival, Troopers located a 25-year-old man, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported by Jackson Community Ambulance to Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Their condition is currently unknown.

Witnesses identified the suspect that had fled the scene prior to the officers arrival.

Officers from Blackman Leoni Township Public Safety and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department located the suspect’s vehicle in the 3000 block of Seymour Road and created a perimeter. The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team responded and took a 28-year-old suspect into custody without incident.

The suspect was lodged at the Jackson County Jail on numerous felony charges. No names are being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
