Macomb County Sheriff Apologizes for Miscommunication by Deputy

MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – On Wednesday July 7th, 2019, it was brought to the attention of the Macomb County Sheriff that there has been some miscommunication between one of their deputies and a citizen.

The deputy stopped an individual for jaywalking in Mt. Clemens. The deputy told the individual that he received a message from the Mayor to stop and make contact with any individual found jaywalking.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office would like for it to be known that neither the Mayor nor Mt. Clemens City Officials have made any request for the deputies to stop and contact individuals for jaywalking.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office apologizes to the public for this inaccurate statement by their Deputy and they are handling this incident internally.
