LENOX TOWNSHIP, MI – On Thursday July 18th, 2019, at approximately 5:20am, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of County Line Rd near 27 Mile Rd for a crash involving a passenger vehicle vs. bicyclist.

The man on the bicycle, Lawton Monroe, 25-years-old, of Casco Township, was found dead upon arrival. Lawton was killed while riding his bike to work to support his family.
The vehicle involved in this crash was a 2005 silver Mercury Sable. The Sable was driven by 28-year-old man out of Columbus. Both the Sable and the bicyclist were traveling southbound on County Line Rd. The driver of the Sable collided with the bicyclist and immediately called 911.
The Macomb County Crash Investigation Team is investigating this incident. The driver of the Sable has been cooperative. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.

Lawton Monroe passed away tragically at the age of 25 on July 18, 2019 in Lenox Township.
He was born
on October 11, 1993 to Jeffrey and Colleen (Chopp) in Clinton Township. Loving father of Dakota, Melody and Dale “DJ” Jeffree. Beloved son of Colleen and Jeffrey Monroe. Loving Fiancée of Ashley Hathaway. Dear brother of Joonna Monroe, Jeffery Monroe, Danielle Bauer, Tiffany (Max)Van Duzer and Ian Monroe. Proud uncle of 6 nieces and nephews. Survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Everybody that knew of Lawton will dearly miss him and his infectious smile and love he had for everyone. Please remember Lawton as his fun~ loving self and his smile. The family has requested that in lieu of floral arrangements, please consider donating for his children.
