Suspect Arrested in Osceola County Violent Home Invasion

MIDDLE BRANCH TOWNSHIP, M – On Wednesday July 17th, 2019, the Michigan State Police (MSP) were dispatched to a house in Middle Branch Township, Osceola County for an assault in progress.Juan Manuel-Leslie Aguilar

A trooper arrived on scene and located the suspect, Juan Manuel-Leslie Aguilar, 33-years-old, of Evart, trying to pull the victim from her car and stab her with her keys. It was learned from she had been attacked by Juan Aguilar when she pulled into her driveway and exited her car.

She told MSP the suspect approached her grunting loudly and beating his chest with his fist. The victim fought off the Juan Aguilar and ran into her house while he attempted to steal another vehicle. The suspect then returned with a gas can and poured it on the home and tried to light it on fire.

Aguilar proceeded to break into the house though a window and entered the home where he continued to chase her. She was able to escape and run back to her car. Juan Aguilar was pulling on her steering wheel while she tried to drive away causing her to crash into a tree.

The suspect was unable to speak anything but loud grunts and was glaring at anyone who would speak to him. The suspect was restrained by officers on scene and was transported to the Reed City Hospital for medical observations. He was then lodged at the Osceola County Jail.

The Osceola Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges for Home Invasion First Degree, Arson- Preparation to Burn, Resisting and Obstructing, Unlawful Driving Away an Automobile, and Habitual offender – 4th felony offense.

Juan Manuel-Leslie Aguilar was arraigned in the 77 th District Court of Osceola County on Thursdsy July 18th, 2019.

Based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections, Juan Aguilar has previous convictions for:

  • Police Officer – Assault/Resist/Obstruct
  • Domestic Violence
  • Police Officer – Assault/Resist/Obstruct
  • Criminal Sexual Conduct, 3rd Deg (Person 13 Thru 15) – Attempt

His parole ended in February of 2019.
