Detroit Police ask for Information about Murder of Mom to 7 Children in Rouge Park

DETROIT, MI – Do you have information that could solve the murder of Francesca ‘Frankie’ Marks who was shot in Rouge Park on Saturday while she was trying to get children out harms way when a basketball game turned deadly? If you do, seven children would greatly appreciate if you would tell police.

The Detroit Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect wanted in connection to a homicide that occurred on the city’s westside.

On Saturday, August 3, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the suspect was involved in a physical altercation at the basketball court located in the area of Rouge Park (Plymouth/Burt). The suspect then left the area in a 2017 – 2019 black Mercedes. He returned a short time later and started firing shots, striking two victims, fatally wounding 30 year old Francesca ‘Frankie’ Marks.

A 29-year-old man was also struck by gun fire.  He is expected to make a full recovery.

The suspect then escaped in a silver, Dodge Charger 392, 4 door, eastbound on Plymouth Rd.

The suspect is described as a black male, in his 20’s, 6’0”, dark complexion, shoulder length dreadlocks, wearing a gray t-shirt and gray shorts and armed with a weapon.

Francesca’s family has set up a GoFundMe account for help with her funeral expenses and to assist with funds to help raise her 7 children.
