One Man Shot and Killed at Southwest Detroit Exxon Gas Station

DETROIT, MI – Three people were shot at the Exxon gas station, located at 1781 S. Fort Street in Southwest Detroit, late Thursday evening. An innocent 46-year-old man, identified as Ray Baker, was hit by multiple bullets as he was leaving out of the front doors to the store. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On August 29th, 2019, at approximately 11:30PM, a black Ford Taurus and a white Dodge Caravan entered the parking of the business. Then gunfire erupted and bullets started flying from the Dodge Caravan towards the Ford Taurus.

Two people who were in the black Ford Taurus, a 26-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, were struck by bullets. They were able to drive themselves to the hospital for treatment. Their injuries are considered to be non-life threatening. It is currently unknown if they are cooperating with the investigation.

Witnesses told police that the gunmen was wearing a ski mask. Detroit Police are looking for that white Dodge Caravan. They are looking for two people who were inside of that car. That vehicle was last seen speeding northbound on Fort Street.

Investigators possibly have video footage of the incident due to the fact that the business is a Project Green Light location. There is no word yet if that video will be released if it does exist.
