Alleged Rapist of 10 yr old Girl Arrested in Mexico

DETROIT, MI – 41-year-old Corey DeShawn Gaston, who was on the U.S. Marshals “Top 15 Most Wanted” list for allegedly kidnapping and raping a child in June of 2007 has been captured.

On Wednesday June 27th, 2007, police allege that Gaston crawled through a bedroom window of a home on Detroit’s west side and abducted a 10-year-old girl. He took her to a nearby ally where he sexually assaulted her all while threatening to hurt her if she screamed before instructing her to return home.

Within days of the attack, a warrant was issued for Gaston’s arrest based on the evidence found. Detectives found his cell phone and also collected his DNA from the crime scene.

After his initial arrest, a judge allowed him to post bond to await his trial that was scheduled for February of 2018. Gaston did not show up for his trial.

Corey Gaston had been on the run for 12 years. The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force located him in Mexico. He will be brought back to Detroit to stand trail for the brutal rape.

There will be a press conference at 2:00PM on Thursday concerning the arrest of Gaston.
