OXFORD TOWNSHIP, MI – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting Deputies from the Oxford Substation with an investigation of a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred near the intersection of Drahner Rd. and Brookside Ct. in the Township of Oxford at approximately 6:26AM on Tuesday October 29th, 2019.
A 2008 Buick Enclave, driven by a 21-year-old Oxford Township man was driving west on Drahner Rd. approaching the intersection of Brookside Ct. The 2008 Buick struck a 63-year-old man also of Oxford Township.
The pedestrian was walking his dog and crossing in a non-crosswalk location. The pedestrian did have a lighting device on his person at the time of the collision. The pedestrian was struck near the double yellow line in the center of the roadway. The driver of the Buick stopped, called 911, and remained on scene until Deputies and medical personnel arrived. The dog was located after the crash unharmed and returned home to the family.
The victim was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac and was pronounced deceased at shortly after 7:00AM. There was no airbag deployment in the Buick Enclave and seat belt use is unknown at this time. Alcohol and drug use is not believed to be factor for the driver of the Buick. The crash remains under investigation.
