CASCO TOWNSHIP, MI – On Tuesday October 30th, 2019, shortly after 10:00pm, deputies from the Allegan Co. Sheriff’s Office responded to an unknown vehicle crash near the intersection of Blue Star Hwy. and 109th Ave. in Casco Twp.
Upon arrival to the scene the vehicle was in a fully involved fire. Fire personnel from South Haven Area Emergency Services was able to extinguish the fire and determine there was a person inside the vehicle, presumably the driver.
It appears the vehicle was west bound on 109th Ave., when it failed to yield at the stop sign crossing Blue Star Hwy. It struck a small hill in a wooded area on private property flipping upside down where it remained in that position.
There were no witnesses to the crash. The driver of the vehicle was burned beyond recognition and at this point it is unknown if the victim is male or female or their approximate age.
It is believed this was a single occupant crash. An area broadcast was completed through Allegan Central dispatch requesting any information on a missing subject last known driving a Dodge Durango late 90’s early 2000’s possibly silver in color. Both the VIN and registration plate were destroyed in the fire.
Assisting the Sheriff’s office at the scene was Michigan State Police, South Haven Area Emergency Services, and Consumers Power. The crash remains under investigation by Allegan County Sheriff’s Office accident investigator. It is unknown if speed or alcohol are factors.
