61 yr old Pontiac Woman Dies from Apartment Fire

PONTIAC, MI – At 10:59pm, on Saturday November 30th, 2019, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire at an apartment inside of the Bloomfield on the River Apartment complex, located in the 300 block of S. Telegraph Rd.

Upon their arrival, Deputies were advised that Paramedics were administering CPR to an unresponsive woman who was found inside the apartment. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The Fire Marshal requested the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigations Unit to assist them with a cause and origin investigation.

An OCSO Fire Investigator responded to the scene. There were no obvious signs of foul play and it appears the fire was the result of careless smoking. The woman was transported by Paramedics from Star EMS to McLaren Oakland Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy has been scheduled. The incident remains under investigation.
