MSP Metro Detroit takes High Powered Rifle Off the Streets

DETROIT, MI – On Friday November 29th, 2019, troopers were on patrol within the city of Detroit when they observed a red Chevrolet Corvette traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph while conducting multiple lane changes without using a turn signal.

A traffic stop was initiated with the driver being arrested for reckless driving. Upon contact with the passenger, a high capacity magazine was observed upon the vehicle’s floorboard near the passenger’s leg.

During the vehicle search one Sig Sauer 9 mm handgun and one SIGM400 rifle were located.

Subsequently, the driver was arrested for OWI and R&O. The non-CPL holding passenger was arrested for CCW, felon in possession, and a felony warrant for assault with a dangerous weapon.
